The main purpose of this workshop is to reconsider some aspects of West African religion and its diasporic transformations with a special focus on its adaptability to new contexts – including the tensions arising in the face of the confrontation of Vodun with moral, social and religious values of the European world. At the same time, the workshop intends to offer a transversal approach to some aspects of African diaspora religions in which certain Hindu practices (like Tantra and Bhakti) are recontextualized, transformed and renewed.
