The Rietberg Museum will host the seminar to be held by Professor Markus Enders (University of Freiburg), Prof. Rolf Kühn (University of Freiburg) and Adrián Navigante (Alain Daniélou Foundation ) with focus on the iconographical dimension of eroticism in Western and Eastern religions. Dr. Johannes Beltz, Vice-President of the Rietberg Museum, will provide an exposé on Alice Boner’s approach to Indian arts, and Sarah Eichner (Alain Daniélou Foundation ) will speak about eroticism in archaic Chinese religion.

Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (GER)

This seminar is the first event in which Alain Daniélou, a very unorthodox author greatly resisted (and even rejected) by Academe, is part of the discussion literature at a German university within the field of Philosophy of Religion. The wide scope of the seminar includes a systematic approach to the question of a possible intrinsic link between eroticism and religion, not only in the East (India and China) but also in Christianity.
