From the 12 – 14th October, in collaboration with Università Ca’ Foscari and Giorgio Cini Foundation, Reset Dialogues on Civilizations will organise a three-day series of meetings and round table discussions on “Identity and Democracy in the Age of Fear”, with the participation of many international scholars and illustrious international guest speakers.
The three days of meetings will be organised over five sessions: two morning sessions on the 12th and 13th of October in the Sala Barbantini of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, and an afternoon session in the Ca’ Dolfin venue of Università Ca’ Foscari. These meetings will focus on a series of urgent and contemporary issues such as the radicalisation of identity and group around religion and ethnicity, the tendency for democratic political systems to evolve into populist and illiberal systems, and the resurgence of nationalism. The cycle of meetings will conclude with a Round Table discussion on the theme “Economic Stagnation, Marginalization and Identities under Threat”.
On Thursday 13th October at 12am, Professor Giuliano Boccali will hold a lectio magistralis in the Aula Magna of Ca’ Dolfin (Università Ca’ Foscari) entitled “The image of Nature in Classical Indian Poetry” in celebration of his 70th birthday.
